Counselling is for everyone

Talking about it does help

Often in life, people find themselves at a point where they feel that they are struggling with an issue that they wish to understand better, and find ways to move past it. This is where counselling can help.

You may be feeling that areas of your life don't seem to quite be working out how you would like, and  you may not fully understand why. Counselling helps to explore the difficulty, so you can understand why it happens and what you can do to make changes.

What is counselling?

Coming to counselling can be daunting and nerve-racking at first.

My role as a counsellor is to listen and understand your world. I will work together with you, to explore and find a way forward, and hopefully make the process of counselling a positive and long lasting experience.

My role isn’t to advise – I strongly believe that each individual has the ability to find their own answers and can be empowered to change in the way that they would like.

Counselling helps us to develop an understanding of ourselves, and how we can bring about the change we wish to see.  Counselling also helps us to feel less alone with the problem and to feel safe and accepted.

Most importantly, counselling is to provide a safe environment, and safe relationship – this is therapeutically very important, as being safe to explore your views, beliefs and perceptions with a person who is trustworthy, non-judgemental, emphatic and honest means that we can begin to understand ourselves in a new way, without fear of judgement.

What problems can counselling help with?

I can help you through counselling with difficulties you may be having, such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, self esteem, relationship difficulties, or trauma.

Our problems don't tend to fit into a neat label, and life can bring a variety of problems that means we will all have different ways of reacting to situations, and how we feel about things. Therefore, if you are considering counselling, and would like to contact me to find out if counselling can help, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Benefits of having online counselling

There are many benefits to online and telephone counselling:

Convenience: You can receive therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home or a space that you feel safe and comfortable in.

Accessibility: Online and telephone counselling can be a great option for people who have difficulty accessing traditional in-person therapy, such as those with busy schedules, those who live in rural areas, or those who have physical limitations.

Easier to Open Up: Online or telephone counselling can feel less intidimidating than face to face therapy. Clients often tell me how much easier it feels to open up over the phone or online.

Flexibility: We can schedule appointments that fit your busy schedule.

Privacy and Confidentiality: I am committed to protecting your privacy. All of our sessions are confidential, and I use secure platforms to conduct online therapy.

Effectiveness: Research has shown that online and telephone counselling are just as effective as in-person therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns.
